The Odier book is wholly about the teacher-student relationship, because he pursued the traditional Tantric initiation. Sarita and Geho's (now they have gone their separate ways) book is about the western approach, so less emphasis is placed on teacher-student. My own path was through traditional initiation, but the majority of the readers of this site will probably be more interested in the western approach.

Do these books talk about Tantra needing to be a practice that you need a teacher or guru for?

Oh! I love your earthy-mystical take on Christ. It speaks to me completely; but I often feel alone in this way of being Christian and understanding mysticism. It was a relief to see somebody else loves the human side of Jesus as I do and enjoys Catholic mystics. So I sent your blog to the e-list of the Fayetteville, Arkansas Friends Meeting to open the doors of communication. Maybe I can find more buddies amongst my good Friends or show them the beauty of enjoying Christianity without anxiety-provoking baggage.

I admit, when I emailed, "Who Is Christian? What Is Mystical?" today, I worried Friends would see me as a nutcase. The clerk of Fayetteville Friends gently chastised me to not go wobbly-kneed, to stand by my soul, come what may. So I did...quaking.

Let me know, Silipo, if you want to hear how Ozark Quakers took your blog. ---Elizabeth

I definitely agree with the common sentiment that I cannot, with surety, say what my reaction would be, were someone I care about in danger.
